NGO man no more visits her


None from the NGO came to visit Mahima's family, now under the open sky. Dogged by the NGO, she burnt her small thatched house in a fit of rage, failing to repay two loan installments.

Mahima, wife of rickshawpuler Saheb Ali of Krishnapur in Kurigram Sader upazila, took Tk 4000 loan from an NGO to buy the riskshaw seven months back.

Her neighbours said she had repaid weekly installments for five months. She defaulter in payments in the last two months as her husband could not arrange money.

As the NGO representative was pressing for the money, the husband and the wife quarreled on several occasions on the matter.

On Friday, as her husband rebuked her and left home after a quarrel, Mahim angry Mahima torched their dwelling. It was reduced to ashes.

Now, Mahima and her family are passing days under the open sky.

Shabeb Ali said no one from the NGO came to see them.
