Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) called the hartal protesting attack on Principal Wazed Parvez, Coordinator of BSD, Joypurhat.

BSD brought out a procession in the town demanding exemplary punishment to the culprits. In support of the hartal, Awami League (AL) also brought out another procession.

BSD leader and principal of Amdhai United Degree College Wazed Parvez sustained serious injuries when he was attacked by miscreants equipped with lethal weapons on Sunday. Later they fled away firing blank shots.

Principal Wazed Parvez was rushed to Joypurhat hospital profusely bleeding. Later, he was removed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.

People laid siege to Deputy Commissioner's (DC) office demanding justice and arrest to culprits.

Principal Wazed told journalists in hospital, Islamic extremists are his probable attackers.

A FIR was lodged but names of suspects were not mentioned there.

None was arrested. Police investigation is going on, Joypurhat police superintendent (SP) told this correspondent over telephone.
