Stranded Pakistanis observe token strike

Stranded Pakistanis General Repatriation Committee (SPGRC) yesterday observed a six-hour token hunger strike at Geneva Camp in Mohammadpur to press home their seven-point demand.

The demands include solution to the longstanding issue of the stranded Pakistanis through a tripartite meeting of Pakistan, Bangladesh and SPGRC, immediate restoration of their monthly relief that remained suspended since 2004 and allowing a ten-member delegation of SPGRC to meet the Pakistani Prime Minister during the upcoming Saarc summit.

Leader of the Stranded Pakistanis Alhaj Nasim Khan led the programme, said a press release.

The stranded Pakistanis alleged that their programme was scheduled to be held at Muktangan, but the city corporation didn't allow them to hold it over there.
