Ahsanullah Murder
Witness says Jatiya Chhatra Samaj men killed him

The fourth prosecution witness in the Awami League legislator Ahsanullah Master murder case gave his deposition before a court yesterday.

Aman Uddin Sarker, president of Tongi unit Bangladesh Chhatra League, gave his statement before Judge Shahed Noor Uddin of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-1.

He was cross-examined on some points on behalf of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal leader Nurul Islam Sarker, the mastermind of the killing, and two others. He will be cross-examined again after the hearing resumes at 11:00am today.

In his deposition he gave a detailed description of the murder and the place where it took place.

He told the court that Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Samaj leaders Nurul Islam Dipu, Shipu, Tipu, Khokan, Ratan, Alamin, Majnu, Hira, Roni, Bulu, Faisal, Monir and Dulal shot at Ahsanullah with pistols and revolvers.

The AL lawmaker was at a conference to form the committee of Sechchhasebok League on May 7.

Another group of Mahbub, Anu, Kana Hafiz, Bara Ratan, Sohag, Jahangir, Salam, Amir, Mohammad Ali and Moshiur also opened fire, the witness added. He said Chhoto Ratan shot Ahsanullah at around 12:35pm when the latter was leaving the stage.

Earlier at 9:45am that day, Nurul Islam Sarker got Dipu and his brother Shipu aboard a white car, got down near Sahara Market and moved westward, Aman told the court, quoting two locals Ratan and Farid.

He said he learned from Liton, Ismail, Abdur Rahman, and Habib of Gopalpur that Nurul, Mahbub, Dipu, Amin, Ayub and Mohammad Ali had planned the assassination. They met at the house of Alamin on a night 10 days before the incident, he said.

Among the 30 accused in the case, 12 were present. Kabir Hossain is out on bail, while Dipu and 17 others are still at large.
