No Mashrafee in Chittagong?

Pace ace Mashrafee bin-Mortuza is set to be rested in the second Test against India in Chittagong.

The selectors are likely to announce a 14-member squad today for the second and final Test which is scheduled to begin on December 17 at the MA Aziz Stadium.

According to a source, the Bangladesh think-tank sat in a meeting yesterday evening in which the decision to rest the 22-year-old came considering he had only returned to playing after a year out to injury. The selectors also reportedly decided to drop Rajin Saleh, who made ducks in both innings' in Dhaka, for local boy Aftab Ahmed in the playing XI.

Mashrafee, who bowled 31 overs in the Indian first innings including 22 on Day One in his comeback Test, still looks a certainty to stay in the final list of 14 for the second Test after the selectors added one more player to the 13-man squad for the Dhaka Test.

It was learnt that young paceman Nazmul Hossain has been drafted in and is most likely to make his Test debut in Chittagong as Mashrafee's replacement. The Tigers could go into the game with three specialist pacemen with Talha Jubair and Tapash Baishya completing the trio.

Mashrafee made a dream return to the Test arena after an absence of 14 months and has been the one of the few shining lights with his control and hostility in an otherwise forgettable first Test. He however appeared stiff when he bowled on the third day.
