College teachers sued for toll


Six lecturers of a college were sued here on Thursday for alleged toll collection.

Ashraful Alam, lecturer at Sakhipur Haji Keyamuddin College in Debhata upazila filed the case with a Magistrate at Satkhira, accusing six of his colleagues of the same college.

In the case Ashraful alleged that the teachers and their hired goons attacked his house at Sakhipur and at gun point and forced him to sign his resignation letter on October 11.

They also forced him to put his signature on two stamps. Later they took away Tk 8000 from his house and demanded More Tk 50,000 as toll.

Ashraful informed the matter to the Chairman of college governing body but to no effect.

He then filed a General Diary with Debhata Thana. As police did not take any action, he filed a case with the court of Magistrate M I Siddique on Thursday.

After hearing, the Magistrate ordered the Officer-in-charge of Debhata thana to investigate the matter and take necessary action.
