8 yr-old boy testifies in murder case


Hassan Majhi, 8, testified before a Magistrate court here on Thursday in connection with the murder of his classmate Tamim, 5.

He appeared before the court of Barisal sadar Upazila Magiatrate Munir Hassan.

Giving witness by an 8 year-old child in a murder case raised curiosity in the court compound.

Court sources said, Tamim,5, son of Kamrul Hassan Bhuiyan of Lalar Dighir Par in the city, was murdered in front of his neighbor and class mate Hassan Majhi on May 9,2003.

A case was lodged in on May 18 against Rafiq Farazi,45, Sefali, 40, Rekha, 22, Saiful, 20,and Jhumur, 22, all relatives of the victim.

Police arrested Jhumur, maternal aunt of the victim, from the Swarupkati in Pirojpur upazila.

In her confessional statement under Section 164, Jhumur admitted her involvement in the murder. It was also revealed that the murder was the result of land dispute between two families.
