3 T&T officials sued for Tk 17 lakh scam


Two sub-assistant engineers and an office assistant at Barisal divisional telephone exchange have been accused of misappropriating Tk 17 lakhs by using 24 fake telephone numbers.

A corruption case ahas been lodged by the Bureau of Anti-corruption (BAC) department with Agailjhara police station.

BAC Sub-inspector Md Humaun Kabir, lodged a case against sub-divisional engineer Mansur Ali Zoarder and office assistant Manjilara Begum at Barisal T and T exchange and Ibrahim Khan, sub-assistant engineer at Agailjhara digital telephone exchange. The case has been filed under sections 409,418,420,467,468,471 of CRPC and Section 2 of Anti-corruption Act 1947.

Mansur Ali is now working as assistant director of T and T, Khulna and Ibrahim and Manjila are under suspension.

In the FIR it has been stated that Prince, son of Ibrahim Khan, took 12 telephone connections in 12 fake addresses in Agailjhara on June 8 last year. Another 12 telephone connections were given to the same person in another 12 fake addresses.

Arrears bills of Tk 17 lakh against these numbers were misappropriated by the accused, it was stated in the case.
