Woman outlaw slaughtered in Meherpur

A woman cadre of an underground outfit was slaughtered at village Ambahar in Meherpur Sadar upazila early yesterday. Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP-Janajuddho) claimed responsibility for the killing of Rehana Khatun, 36, a cadre of PBCP Hamidul group. Police said Janajuddho men stormed into the house of Nasim, a member of Amjhupi Union Parishad (UP), at about 2:00am and picked up Rehana at gunpoint. They took her to a field nearby and slit her throat. Police said Rehana was an armed cadre of PBCP Hamidul group. She was accused of several charges, including that of murder, filed with Meherpur and Mujibnagar police stations. Police recovered the body yesterday morning and sent it to Meherpur Sadar Hospital for autopsy. In a statement yesterday, a regional leader of (PBCP-Janajuddho) claimed responsibility for the killing of Rehana branding her a traitor.
