City colleges celebrate autumn

Clear sky and the Kash flower (white flower of a grass species) on the banks of a calm river in autumn has influenced many poets and lyricists. That is why it has become a tradition in our country to celebrate the season through several cultural events.

Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC) arranged a three-day long inter-college cultural meet featuring debate and quiz competitions from October 8 to 11.

A number of leading colleges of the capital like Dhaka Residential Model College, Dhaka College, Notre Dame College, Viqarunnesa College and others took part in the event which was inaugurated by professor ABM Abdul Mannan Mia, Principal of DRMC.

Professor Manna said, 'We have been arranging this type of competition for the last couple of years to celebrate autumn. Through this cultural competition the students of different colleges of the city get opportunity to compare their co-curricular activities.'

Acclaimed dramatist Selim Al Deen distributed prizes among the winners on the closing day of the cultural competition on October 11.
