Last year's runners-up Mohamme-dan Sporting Club roped in four players from archrivals Abahani on the first day of the three-day Premier and First Division Hockey League players' transfer. The Black and Whites yesterday signed Under-21 hockey captain Rajan and teammates Tuhin, Habul and Shishu, who all played a vital role in Abahani's Premier League triumph last season. The young bloods, also members of the national team, will boost Mohammedan's attack which already boasts the country's top forward Arifur Rahman Prince. Mohammedan's other recruits were Turjo and Moshiur from Azad and Usha's penalty-corner specialist Dinar, another member of the under-21 hockey team which lifted the Challenge Cup beating India in the final on Friday. Mohammedan, however, let go of experienced players like defender Issa Mia and Rafiqul Islam Kamal -- the most successful striker in the history of domestic hockey -- to Mariner Youngs Club. Mariners also included Mohammedan goalkeeper Jahangir, Hassan from Ajax and Azad's BKSP lads Chandan and Afzal. Abahani however stayed away from the first day's bourse at the Bangladesh Hockey Federation office. Another giant Usha recruited goalkeeper Zahid, hero of Bangla-desh's penalty shootout victory over India. They also signed Moha-mmedan pair of Moksed and Tabib-e Noor and Mariners' Yamin. A total of 50 players including two in the First Division took part in yesterday's transfer.
