1 more accused in KEPZ MD killing case

The Speedy Trial Tribunal, Chittagong yesterday made another accused in the Korean Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) managing director commodore Golam Rabbani murder case and issued an warrant of arrest against him.

Tribunal Judge M Hasan Imam also ordered attachment of the property of Noor Hossain, son of Burma Hajee and owner of Noor Motors.

The lawyer of the plaintiff alleged Noor had given his private car to the killers of Rabbani.

Criminals shot Rabbani, also former Chittagong port authority (CPA) chairman and director general of shipping, on his way to the KEPZ on April 11. He died at a Bangkok hospital after two weeks.

Police pressed charges against seven including former KEPZ director Abu Naser Chowdhury, who was fired for corruption, while 44 people have been shown prosecution witnesses.

As one of the defendants' lawyers appealed for additional probing into five specific issues Saturday, the tribunal ordered further investigations. Four others have also been included as witnesses.

The next hearing of the case will be held Monday, court sources said.
