One of the earliest private channels in the country, ATN Bangla celebrates its 8th birthday today. In the seven years that have flown by, ATN Bangla has garnered rich experiences to speak of and remember for the years to come in the future. On July 15, 1997, an hour of airtime was bought from ATN Music in Mumbai, which began as ATN Bangla. For the first six months, the Bangali audience would immensely enjoy the 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm programmes, which would be aired on the channel. Eventually, the channel moved on to becoming a 24- hour satellite channel. Today, ATN Bangla has been successful in airing the popular daily talk show Anno drishti. This programme has broadened the horizons of many in terms of politics, parliamentary affairs and social issues among others. The channel claims that its biggest achievement is the news presentation. In addition, this is probably the first satellite channel in the country to have reached millions of people in parts of North America. ATN Bangla is celebrating their 8th birthday today with a series of programmes and live musicals. Live shows will be held at Hotel Sheraton and various artistes and bands will be performing on the occasion, namely Nagar Baul, LRB, Hassan, Biplab, Pathik Nabi, Suvro Dev, Rabi Chowdhury, Kaniz Subarna, Dal chut, Warfaze and many more. Through out the day, ATN Bangla will telecast a series of musical programmes, talk shows and interviews with celebrities.
