Staff Correspondent
Awami Jubo League, youth wing of the main opposition Awami League (AL), yesterday alleged that the government is trying to implicate its leaders in the double-decker bus arson case on the basis of the judicial statement of a vagabond.Jubo League leaders at a press conference demanded judicial investigation into the bus arson incident and immediate arrest of the real criminals. They said that the ruling party was trying to avoid its responsibility imposing it on Jubo league leaders. "Initially police said the bus was set on fire by spreading gun powder but finally they did not specify the nature explosives used for bus arson," said Jubo League presidium member Mizanur Rahman. He said after the incident police arrested some of our activists and forced them to make confessional statement. "As they did not give confessional statement, the government had staged a drama to implicate its leader in the case through a vagabond," Mizan said. "On the day of incident the government took high security measure across the city as the US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld will be visiting Dhaka the following day," he said. Only the organised criminals are able to commit such a crime in this type of circumstances. Jubo League presidium member Syedur Rahman, Joint Secretary Majibur Rahman Chowdhury, Harunur Rashid and Organising Secretary Mahbubur Rahman were present at the press conference.
