Clash with Police in Bhola
17 held, granted bail


Seventeen people have been arrested in connection with the alleged arms looting from Charfession police during Sunday's clash.

One SMG, one rifle and forty bullets were allegedly looted by angry people during the clash in Anjur Hut under Charfeassion upazila in Bhola. The clash centred torture of school boy Kabir.

The firearms and three bullets were later recovered from Char Kolmi village in Char Manik union. Rest of the bullets are still missing, police said yesterday.

The arrested are school boys Prince and Sohel, Mohiuddin, Sajib, Hossain, Matin, Yusuf, Helaluddin, Siraj, Nur Islam, Jahangir, Abul Kalam, Kabir, Mannan, Badal, Babibur Rahman and Kamrul. All were granted bail by a magistrate court in Bhola on Tuesday.

They are among 45 named in the case filed by ASI Zakir Hossain in connection with the incident.

Torture victim Kabir, also accused in the case is now under treatment at Charfession hospital under police custody.

Bhola Police Superintendent Matiur Rahman, when asked, did not make any comment, saying the matter is under investigation.
