AL man slaughtered in Meherpur
2 others killed in Chuadanga, Rajbari


Three persons including an Awami League leader were killed in separate incidents in Meherpur, Chuadanga and Rajbari on Tuesday. Unidentified miscreants called AL leader Ishaq Ali, 69, out of his Badiapara village home in Gangni upazila in Meherpur at dead of night.

They took the elderly man to a nearby field on gunpoint and slaughtered him.

Police recovered the body next morning and sent it to Meherpur Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

The cause of the killing could not be known. A case was filed. In Chuadanga, Abdur Rashid, 40, was beaten to death by his elder brother at Sutiabagdi village in Jibonnagar upazila over a family feud.

A case has been filed but Jibonnagar police could not arrest any one.

In Rajbari Sadar, a trifle claimed a life at Parkol village.

Police said Mostak asked his younger brother Farid Ahamad to put out the light in the room. As Farid delayed, an angry Mostaq hit him with a wood plank. Farid died on the spot.

A case has been filed with the Sadar police staion. Mostaq is absconding, police said.
