'Govt runs dual admin'
Staff Correspondent
Saber Hossain Chowdhury, political secretary to the opposition leader and organising secretary of Awami League, yesterday accused the government of running dual administration in the country. He said the Hawa Bhaban, controlled by BNP Joint Secretary General Tareque Rahman, is now the centre of all transfer, promotion and appointment. Chain of command in civil and police administration is in jeopardy due to illegal exercise of power by him, said Saber in a statement issued to express his reaction on the European tour of Tareque. The protocol given to Tareque, who is neither a lawmaker nor holds any government position, at Heathrow Airport by Bangladesh High Commission officials proves that there is a parallel government in the country, he said quoting newspaper reports. Saber said people want to know whether Tareque has any other identification other than the son of the prime minister or the leader of a party since civil servants and ambassadors are required to remain present at his service at home and abroad.
