13 chargesheeted in Kohinoor murder

The Detective Branch (DB) of police yesterday pressed charges against 13 people in connection with the incident of burning to death of a young girl at Pallabi in the city on March 11.Fatema Khatun Kohinoor,26, was burnt to death after rape by some unidentified youths at Pallabi in the city on March 11. Inspector Sayed Hasan, investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, Dhaka. The chargesheeted accused are Nazrul, Mojibur Rahman, Mohammad Shafiqul Islam alias Shafi, Aminul Islam alias Amin, Babu alias Bara Babu and Babu alias Chhoto Bbabu, Habibur Rahman alias Habib, Noor Hossain, Aman Ullah, Shafiqul alias Safu, Sharifullah, Kalam and Bashir. Of them, Nazrul, Mojibur, Shafi, Amin, Bara Babu and Chhoto Babu are now in the custody while Habib and six others are still at large. Eight others- Selim, Abul Kalam Azad, Shafiuddin Pintu, Abul Kashem, Selim alias Sella, Rony and Sumon- were dropped from the charge sheet as the charges brought against them were not proved. Victim's mother Almida Khatun filed a case with Pallabi Police Station accusing Habib and five other youths under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act 2000.
