BNP leader, 5 others hurt in bomb attacks

At least six people, including a local BNP leader, were injured in bomb attacks in Khulna and Noakhali last night and the night before.In Khulna, Sekander Zafarullah Khan Sacchu, vice-president of city BNP, was critically injured as unknown assailants hurled a powerful bomb at him near his house at Gagan Babu Road at about 8:10pm yesterday, according to the UNB. The bomb blew off the left hand of the BNP leader. He was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital. Police rushed to the spot and were trying to unearth the motive of the attack. No-one was arrested till 9:00pm. A bomb attack by unknown assailants on the house of a local BNP leader In Begumganj upazila of Noakhali district on Tuesday night left five people injured. The victims are Masud, 12, Zayed, 7, Rabeya, 3, Rokeya Begum, 30, and Shahin Akter, 25 of village Hirapur. They were admitted to Noakhali Sadar hospital. Doctor at the hospital said the bomb blew off the left hand and right leg of Masud. His condition was stated to be critical. Police said the assailants hurled a powerful bomb targeting the family members of Ruhul Amin, president of Sonapur Union BNP, at about 9:00pm as they were sitting in front of their house. The motive of the attack could not be known. No-one was arrested till yesterday evening.
