Starting afresh
Mamun returns to the limelight

Abdullah Al Mamun, a famous actor, director and playwright, will re-start work from the next month. His recent illness kept him away from stage and screen for four months.

He says, 'In February last, I had to go to India for my open-heart surgery. Though I was really busy in those days with my mega-serial Baba, my illness compelled me to take four months off. I will restart work on the serial from June 2.'

Mamun knows that he will have to be cautious in future in dealing with glitches. 'I have to compromise with my artistes and my crew from Baba in many ways. Further, I have to cast a new actor in place of K S Feroze, as he is seriously sick. I have to change the character also. But, I am optimistic about completing the mega-serial,' Mamun adds.

His heart attack caused other problems as well. Mamun says, 'In February last, I started a full-length film titled Doria Parer Dowloti. Now, I have to wait for the next year to restart it.'

Mamun is enthusiastic about his return to the stage from next month. 'I am one of the main cast members of the play Madhobi. In my absence, Ramendu played my character. However, I will play the Jojati character from the next show. Moreover, I will steer a theatre workshop of the newcomers and will advise Troupa in her direction for a stage play.'
