Ispahani's small target

Salman Ispahani, managing director of MM Ispahani Limited, was expecting his side record at least one victory in the Corporate Cricket League (CCL) that kicked off on Tuesday.

"Though we are the tournament underdogs we will still be looking for a victory and that will satisfy us," he said yesterday, the day before the reputed business house open their campaign against Gazi Tank at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium.

"We will play according to our strength. And I think our players will try their best to perform against whoever they meet," he told this correspondent over cell phone while watching the team practice at the Abahani playground.

Salman said MM Ispahani, the country's leading tea-manufac-turer and for the past few years sponsors of the National Cricket League, had only three non-

Chittagonian cricketers -- former national paceman Saiful Islam, wicketkeeper Mokhtar Siddiki and all-rounder Murad Khan in the squad, which is led by former national captain Minhazul Abedin.

The experienced right-hander Minhaz also doubles as team coach.
