Outlaws threaten to abduct children of Bagerhat SP
Staff Correspondent, Khulna
Leftist outlaws have threatened the top police officer in Bagerhat district with the abduction of his children if he did not immediately stop combing operations against them in the district. The superintendent of police of the southwestern district, Mahabub Alam, admitted that suspected outlaws threatened by phone in the last week to abduct his two baby sons and the only daughter. His daughter Tasnim Alam is a student of class two and sons Farhad Alam Shams and Nihal Alam are students of class one and play group at local schools. Mahabub said the security of his children, especially on their way to school and back home, was beefed up deploying armed police guards. The police superintendent, who received death threats from the operatives of the leftist extremists soon after his joining Bagerhat police, seemed undaunted by the threats and said he was determined to continue the special drives in the district. Bagerhat district has emerged as a hotbed of outlaw violence in recent years where numbers of political leaders and law-enforcers have been killed in the past two years.
