Award for best drama 24 Carat Goldman best telefilm Bairati


Channel-i, a private channel in Bangladesh, has decided to reward TV talents. The first such award was given out recently at the Winter Garden of Sheraton Hotel.

'We want to encourage good works in every sector of creativity and art,' said Faridur Reza Sagar, managing director of the channel-i. This time the competition was limited only to the programmes on Eid-ul-Azha aired on Channel-i. However, the channel authority says they are looking forward to continuing this award and including the programmes of all Bangladeshi channels from next year.

The 18 category awards of this year have been given for drama, telefilm, musical programme, and magazine show. The award also includes one lifetime achievement that was given to Farid Ali for his contribution to the film and TV as well. Among drama 24 carat Goldman by Humayun Ahmed, and telefilms Bairati by Shakur Majid, clinched the titles in the respective categories.

In the drama section the other awards go to, best script- Humayun Ahmed, best director- Rezanur Rahman, best actor-Afzal Hossain, best actress Aupeee Karim, best actress in the supporting role Parvin Sultana Dity, best actor in the supporting role Masum Aziz, best in camera Mafuzur Rahman Khan.

Famous singer Sabina Yasmeen entertained the audience with her melodious performance throughout the show at regular intervals.

In the telefilm section the awardees are Shakur Majid- best script, Nader Chowdhury-best director, Mafuz Ahmed- best actor, Srabonti- best actress, Abdul Kader- best actor in the supporting role, Sanaroi Debi Shanu- best actress in the supporting role, Rafiqul Bari Chodhury- best cameraman.

Abdul Kader being on the stage to receive the award said 'There is vitamin in the award!' 'As it works as inspiration for good works' he explains.

In the music section Asif was awarded with the best male singer award while Baby Naznin won the same title in the female category. Zillur Rahman got the award of the best anchor and Minister for communication Najmul Huda won the award of the best participant.

Veteran singer Kalim Sarafi handed over the awards and took part with Sabina on request.
