Staff Correspondent
Fire gutted the factory of Ring Sign Garments in the old export processing zone (EPZ) in Savar last night. Fire Brigade officials said there was no casualty, though the factory was open and workers working inside when the blaze broke out at around 8:00pm. An EPZ security official said, "Some of the workers managed to come out soon after the fire started. I don't know whether some one was left trapped inside." Police and security officials guess electric short circuit or bursting of a boiler to cause the fire that completely burnt down the plant. Eleven fire fighting units from the fire service stations in Savar EPZ, Mirpur and Siddiqbazar and the headquarters had been working hard to douse the flames till filing of this report at 12:15am today.
