Border talks with Myanmar begins today


A four-day deputy-director general level border conference between Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) and Immigration and National Regis-tration Department (IND) of Myan-mar begins in Cox's Bazar today.

Deputy Director General of BDR Brigadier-General M Ibrahim Khalil will lead an eight-member delegation, while his Myanmar counterpart U Zaw Tun will head a six-member team in the conference.

Issues relating to better relations between the border guards, checking illegal entrance of the Bangla speaking Myanmar nationals to Bangladesh, Bangladeshi fishermen's problems in fishing in the Bay of Bengal and arms and drugs trading will come up for discussion, a press release said.
