Cops identify Dhanmondi victim as Johny

Investigators suspect the beheaded body found near Sikder Medical College in Dhanmondi on Saturday might be that of one Johny, a resident of Rayerbazar area.

Dhanmondi police said they had checked two laundry receipts, which they found in the trouser pocket of the beheaded man, and discovered those were issued from Sohel Laundry in Rayerbazar.

The laundry staff said Johnny gave them two shirts and a trouser on receipt No. 589 and 590 on March 23, but they failed to give his detailed address, said an official of Dhanmondi Police Station seeking not to be named.

"I quizzed the laundry staff. They could confirm the clothes belonged to Johnny, but only knew the victim lived in the locality," he added.

Besides, police also recovered a notebook from the victim's trouser pockets. They called some numbers from it only to listen the receivers did not know anyone named Johnny.

The police official also said most mobile numbers in the notebook were those of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and Jubo Dal leaders.
