1 US soldier killed by roadside bomb

One US soldier was killed and another injured by a roadside bomb north of the Iraqi capital yesterday, a military spokeswoman said.

The soldiers were driving in a four vehicle convoy southeast of the town of Baquba, 40 miles north of Baghdad, when the bomb exploded at around 9:30am.

The wounded soldier was in a stable condition.

The death brought to 380 the number of US soldiers killed in action in Iraq since the start of the US-led war.
