The Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team ended their final warm-up match yesterday to complete five victories out of five but the brittle top order left coach Richard McInnes with some worries ahead of the opening 5th World Cup game tomorrow.The U/19s dismissed their opponents CCDM Green for 145 but lost six wickets to pass the paltry total at the Bangabandhu National Stadium. Their opponents on Sunday New Zealand bounced back from the stunning loss to the spirited trainees of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) on Thursday with a seven-wicket sail over Narayanganj DSA at the Fatullah Cricket Stadium. Pakistan rode on a blistering century by Fawad Alam to thump Khulna Division U-19 selection by 190 runs while another tournament favourite England thrashed Chittagong District Team 'A' by 84 runs. Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe also cruised past their respective opponents in Bogra. DHAKA ZONE WARM-UPS Openers Nayeem Islam and Nafees Iqbal gave Bangladesh a solid start in their quest for 146 but for the second game running, the middle-order saw a collapse before win was secured in the 36th overs. In-form Nafees returned to dressing room for 19 but not before putting on 62 with Nayeem who was the team's top scorer on 34. Aftab Ahmed (19), Nazimuddin (1) and skipper Ashiqur Rahman (19) fell cheaply leaving Riyad (23) and wicket-keeper Dhiman Gosh (32 n.o) to take their side to safety. Earlier offie Riyad had captured three wickets for 34 in 9 overs and left-arm spinner Nadif Chowdhury grabbed three for 18 in 9.1 overs for Bangladesh. At the Fatullah Stadium, one down Wilson hammered 75 as New Zealand outplayed Narayanganj DSA. The local selection made 215 all out in 47.1 overs after being invited to bat first. New Zealand surpassed the score in 44.4 overs losing three wickets along the way. CHITTAGONG ZONE WARM-UPS Former champions England posted their second victory in their build-up campaign when they inflicted 84-run win against Chittagong District Team A. The English boys amassed 274 in 50 overs and then restricted their opponents to 190-9. In the another match, Uganda defeated Chittagong Divisional Team B by just one wicket. The tourists scored 118 for nine in 39.4 overs in reply to the local selection's 115 in 45.2 overs. RAJSHAHI ZONE WARM-UPS Sri Lanka Under-19 handed Rajshahi District Team a massive eight-wicket defeat at the Bogra Police Lines ground. The islanders had little to do after the local side were shot out for 92. At the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra, Zimbabwe bulldozed their way past Bogra District team by 137 runs. The southern Africans dismissed the Bogra youngsters for exactly 100 while defending an impressive 237 in 50 overs. KHULNA ZONE WARM-UPS Pakistani southpaw Fawad Alam cracked a sparkling 169 against Khulna Division Under-19 as the South Asian powerhouse recorded a crushing 190-run win at the Khulna Divisional Stadium. The left-hander from Sialkot slammed 15 fours and eight mighty sixes off 108 balls as the Pakistani colts amassed 362 for nine in 50 overs. The total was definitely beyond Khulna Under-19 who managed 172. At the Jessore District Stadium, Jessore Under-19 caused a minor upset by trouncing Papua New Guinea by nine wickets. Jessore U-19 reached the required 124 runs in 22 overs after the visitors struggled to make 123 in 39.5 overs. Away at the Khulna Stadium, Khulna DSA surprised Ireland by six wickets when they scored 145 for four in 22.4 overs in reply to Ireland's 142 in 40.4 overs.
