Indian air chief arrives in city


The Chief of the Air Staff of Indian Air Force (IAF) Air Chief Marshal S Krishnaswamy arrived here yesterday on a six-day goodwill visit to Bangladesh.

S Krishnaswamy is accompanied by his wife and a two-member IAF delegation, an official announcement said.

Chief of the Air Staff Air Vice-Marshal Fakrul Azam received the Indian air chief at the Zia International Airport. Principal Staff Officers of the Bangladesh Air Force and Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Veena Sikri were also present at the airport.

The Indian air chief is scheduled to call on President and Supreme Commander of the Bangladesh Armed Forces Iajuddin Ahmed.

He would also meet with chiefs of the three services, Defence Secretary and Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division.

The Indian air force chief is expected to visit some military establishments in Dhaka, Chittagong and Jessore.
