Sylhet's Golam Mabud and Khulna skipper Hasanuzzaman cracked the first centuries of the Ispahani Mirzapore Tea Fifth National League's one-day competition yesterday.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Mabud hammered136 off 120 balls as visiting Sylhet scored a tense ten-run victory over lowly Barisal.

The result gave them a share of the lead with Dhaka and Chittagong at the end of the sixth round with eight points.

Hasanuzzaman's virtual run-a-ball 101 not out ended Chittagong's reign at the top after just one round when Khulna won by 13 runs at the Jessore Stadium. It was their second win in the meet

At the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium, Dhaka all-rounder Neeyamur Rashid fell five runs short of joining the three-figure party but his effort still helped the holders to a 14-run victory over second placed Rajshahi, who have six points.

Barisal occupy last place with only two points to their credit.

SYLHET V BARISAL

Sylhet's opening batsman Mabud hit the highest individual score of the shorter-version as the visitors eventually won a 38-over-a-side game. Early morning fog delayed the start of play at the Barisal Stadium.

Barisal's occasional spinner Tariqul Islam picked up a five-wicket haul but he couldn't prevent Sylhet from scoring 245-7 in the allotted overs.

The right-handed Mabud, who had made only 94 runs in his previous five innings, smashed 14 fours and three sixes during his time at the wicket. Despite half-centuries by Nahidul Haq ( 75 ) and Arafat Salahuddin ( 72 ) Barisal managed 235-8 in 38 overs.

KHULNA V CHITTAGONG

Hasanuzzaman hammered six over-boundaries and four fours off 106 balls to power Khulna to a fighting 237-5 in 50 overs after deciding to bat. Sheikh Nizamuddin was the other notable scorer with 40 off 65 balls.

Left-arm paceman Syed Russel and spinner Abdur Razzak Raj combination to share six wickets after Chittagong were dismissed for 224 in 49 overs.

DHAKA V RAJSHAHI

Neeyamur hit a blazing unbeaten 95 off 86 balls and national discard Mehrab Hossain scored an 87-ball 66 as Dhaka made 222-6 in 45 overs after deciding to bat.

Man-of-the-match Neeyamur clobbered 12 fours and two sixes.

Then former national skipper and off-spinner Naimur Rahman captured four for 40 as Rajshahi were bundled out for 208 in 42.3 overs.

Skipper Nuruzzaman made 56 off 92 deliveries with five hits to the fence.
