Tributes paid to Dr Milon

Leaders and workers of different political parties and socio-cultural organisations paid rich tributes to Shaheed Dr Shamsul Alam Khan Milon on the occasion of his 13th death anniversary on Thursday.

On this day in 1990, the armed men of the then autocratic regime of Hussain Mohammad Ershad killed Dr Milon near the Teachers and Students Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University to foil an imminent mass upsurge.

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Awami League and other political parties, and Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) placed wreaths at the mazar of Dr Milon on the premises of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital here to mark the occasion.

Leaders and workers of the BNP led by Sramik Dal President Nazrul Islam Khan and Dhaka City BNP General Secretary Abdus Salam laid floral wreaths at the mazar at 8.30am.

Awami League presidium member Abdus Samad Azad, Rashed Khan Menon and Saifuddin Ahmed Manik of 11-party, Hasanul Hoque Inu and Shireen Akhtar of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal placed wreaths at the mazar on behalf of their respective parties.
