Booby-trap kills US soldier in Iraq

A US soldier was killed in action by a booby-trap while on patrol north of Baghdad, his unit, the US 4th Infantry Division, said yesterday.He was "killed during a combat patrol when the soldier's vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED) near al-Ghalibiyah, 15 kilometres west of Baguba, at approximately 10:00pm local time Thursday, a statement said. Earlier, a coalition spokesman had said the soldier had died of his wounds after his convoy was hit by an IED in northern Baghdad.
