Tiger kills 2 fishermen in Sundarbans


A man-eating tiger killed two fishermen in Burigoalini forest range area in the Sundarbans under Shymnagar upazila in the last two days.

Sources said Ariful Islam, 40, son of Bastullah Sheikh of village Moutola under Kaligonj upazila, went to the Sundarbans for fishing along with some other fishermen a few days ago.

While they were fishing in the Boikari canal on Saturday, suddenly a tiger attacked Ariful and took him away into the deep forest. Later, his body was recovered from the forest by.

In another incident on Sunday, Abu Musa, 38 son of Kalu Gazi of village Patakhali under Shymnagar upazila, came under attack by the same tiger while he along with other fisherman was fishing in the river Chandnimukha.

The tiger took him away to the nearby forest. Later, family members of the victim with the help of forest guards recovered the body.
