Police and family sources said that a gang of armed miscreants forcibly entered Kajai Marma's house at about 2 am on Thursday. They dragged and took him to a nearby jungle and slit his throat.

Being informed, police recovered the body next morning and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy.

Marma's wife claimed that the killing was sequel to previous enmity over land dispute. She said she recognised three of the killers but did not disclose their names fearing retaliation.
