Culprits acquitted due to faulty FIR, probe
Judge tells workshop on trafficking


Culprits are often acquitted due to faulty FIR, improper investigation and lack of witnesses, District and Sessions Judge A K M Zahir Ahmed has said.

Judges have to go by law, he said addressing a workshop here on women and children trafficking.

Maulana Abdul Khalleque MP inaugurated the workshop, organised by the National Women Lawyers Association.

With advocate Shirin Nahar in the chair, it was addressed by, among others, principal Asit Kumar Majumdar, Ataur Rahman, Kalyan Bannerjee, advocate Farida Aktar Banu and Sheikh Selim.

About 45 people including government officials, journalists, lawyers and NGO representatives attended the workshop, held on Friday.
