Six policemen sent to jail on killing charge

Six policemen, including a sub-inspector, were sent to jail custody in Chittagong yesterday on charge of killing a road builder.

A team of the Special Branch of Police arrested the cops Wednesday night for their alleged involvement in the killing of Farid Uddin alias Forak Sawdagor and took them to a court yesterday.

The court sent Sub-Inspector Nesar Ahmad and constables Ismail Hossain, Mainuddin, Amanullah, Afser Uddin and Birendra Debnath to jail.

Forak was shot dead in a clash over construction at Tailerdwip on the Chittagong-Banshkhali Road under Anwara upazila in the district in July in the presence of the policemen.

The policemen allegedly took the side of Forak's rivals and a bullet fired with a police rifle felled him.
