Six policemen sent to jail on killing charge

Six policemen, including a sub-inspector, were sent to jail custody in Chittagong yesterday on charge of killing a road builder.A team of the Special Branch of Police arrested the cops Wednesday night for their alleged involvement in the killing of Farid Uddin alias Forak Sawdagor and took them to a court yesterday. The court sent Sub-Inspector Nesar Ahmad and constables Ismail Hossain, Mainuddin, Amanullah, Afser Uddin and Birendra Debnath to jail. Forak was shot dead in a clash over construction at Tailerdwip on the Chittagong-Banshkhali Road under Anwara upazila in the district in July in the presence of the policemen. The policemen allegedly took the side of Forak's rivals and a bullet fired with a police rifle felled him.
