Mars Attack
Marsman, On e-mail
For the past few days it seems the entire country has fallen under Mars fever. Everyone from grandpa to their grandchildren is simply ecstatic about Mars. I am afraid I was one of the victims too, because I found myself amid thousands of crowds in Wonderland after a very tiring day. They came to have just a glimpse of the Red Planet. But nature wasn't as enthusiastic as the Dhaka crowd, large clouds covered the sky which kept hiding Mars as if they were feeling jealous. Frustration mixed with anticipation made the crowd very restless. The authorities continuously pleaded with the crowd in order to control the overexcited Dhakaites. After waiting in the line for almost one and half hours with two of my lady friends, our patience finally ran out and we withdraw and decided to wait for another sixty thousand years to see the Red Planet. Why is everything in Dhaka has to be so disorganised all the time? Why the Wonderland authorities, knowing fully well the nature of our crowd, did not arrange two telescopes instead of one? And they put the instrument in the middle of an open field and the guide kept shouting in the mike that its a very delicate electronic telescope and so on. I think it would have been much better if they put it in a more secured place, like on a dais. Well, as for me I just had to pacify my fling with Mars just with my open eyes. My friends were very disappointed and kept saying why everything in Dhaka was always so disordered. Adieu my dear Mars till I see you again sixty thousand years later.
