The convicts are Abdur Rashid Mia,30, and Mostafa Biswas,35, of Satla village under Ujirpur Upazila of the district.

The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each, in default, they are to suffer another one year imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, the convicts abducted Sheuli Begum, 25, wife of Mosharraf Sarder of the village on September 15, 2002 while she was returning home from her father's house.

They brought the victim to Dahka and confined her in a rented house for more than a month. During the captivity, they rapped her.

The relatives of the victim rescued her on October 25, 2002. The victim filed a case with Ujirupur Police Station on October 31, 2002.

Police submitted charge sheet on January 9, 2003 accusing the two.

Judge M A Kuddus Mia handed gave the verdict after recording the statements of 12 prosecution witnesses and examining other documents.

The court completed the trial in 10 working sessions.
