Split in PBCP, new party floated

Outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) has been divided, at last.

Dissidents have floated a new party named 'PBCP Janajuddho (M-L).' headed by Tapan Mahmud.

A fax message sent to some local newspaper offices on Tuesday said that Tapan Mahmud has been made general secretary of the new party.

The fax message stated that the split was inevitable to free PBCP from the corrupt leadership of Prof Mofakkhar Hossain Chowdhury who misguided the armed cadres

by diverting them from "class struggle" to toll collection and killings with no purpose in the southwestern zone.

Tapan Mahmud has called upon all armed PBCP cadres to come under the banner of newly-floated 'PBCP Janajuddho (M-L)' or to face a severe consequence, the fax message further said.
