2 UPDF men gunned down in Khagrachhari
Unknown criminals gunned down two activists of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) in Khagrachhari Sadar upazila this morning.
The deceased are Notun Kumar Chakma, 48, of Panchhari upazila of the district; and Protulmoy Chakma, 30, of Rangamati, reports our Khagrachhari correspondent.
The UPDF blamed Santu Larma faction of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) for the attack which the latter denied.
Unknown criminals opened fire at the duo when they were sitting at a tea stall at Baroitoli village around 8:30am, Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said quoting witnesses.
Nuton and Protulmoy died on the spot, the OC added.
Contacted, Niron Chakma, publicity secretary of the UPDF claimed that the cadres of Santu Larma-led PCJSS had made the gun attack.
However, Sajib Chakma, assistant information and publicity secretary of the PCJSS, denied any link with the murders.
