2 hurt as train rams car in Dhaka
At least two people were “critically” injured when a commuter train rammed a private car on the Khilgaon rail crossing in Dhaka this morning.
The incident took place after the car broke through the gates on the crossing around 10:30am, said Abdul Kuddus, assistant sub-inspector of Dhaka Government Railway Police (GRP).
“The gates were closed for passage of the train,” he told The Daily Star Online. “But, a car broke through the gates on to the rail crossing.”
“The driver of the car and a rickshaw-puller were critically injured on the spot. They were rushed to a hospital,” he added.
Details of the incident or the extent of injury sustained could not be confirmed.
Shajahanpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahmudul Alam and Khilgaon Police Station OC Mostafizur Rahman endorsed the incident.
