2 held for kidnapping Narayanganj businessman
Police have detained two persons in connection with the kidnapping of businessman Saiful Islam, who was freed 26 hours after his abduction from Narayanganj.
Narayanganj Superintendent of Police Mahidul Islam confirmed it at a press briefing at his office today, reports our district correspondent.
The detainees are Akash, a BKash service provider, who was found in possession of the mobile phone through which the ransom was demanded, and Nargis Akhter alias Nur Jahan. Nurjahan was picked up from Jatrabari in the capital late last night, according to Narayanganj police.
Akash was picked up around 4:15pm from Jatrabari, accoding to ADC (North) of Db, Abdul Ahad.
Narayanganj businessman Saiful Islam had been abducted from Sanarpar area in the city around 9:00pm Thursday.
Around 26 hours into the abduction, he was freed near the National Mausoleum in Nabinagar of Savar.
His release came following daylong angry demonstrations in Narayanganj, which had already been fuming over the abduction and brutal killing of seven people, including city councillor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker.
