17 held for cheating at DU admission tests
Dhaka University authorities detained 15 admission seekers and two others today for using means of plagiarism during the admission tests of Ka unit (science faculty).
The students were held with high-tech gadgets which were not permitted to be used inside the examination hall, Amzad Ali, acting proctor of Dhaka University told The Daily Star.
Among them, three aspirants each were detained from Curzon Hall centres and Ideal College at Dhanmondi, each of the examinees were from Azimpur Agrani School and College, Azimpur Girls School and College, Motijheel Model High School and College, Eden Mohila College, Nilkhet High School and Notre Dame College, the proctor said.
The proctor office sources said the detainees were being kept at the proctor’s office.
A total of 80,442 admission seekers sat in the enrolment tests for the 1,640 seats available in the departments under science group. The examination began from 10:00am this morning.
During the enrolment test of ‘Ga’ unit last Friday, Dhaka University authorities caught seven admission seekers for plagiarism using mobile phones. Their candidacies were revoked.
