10 hurt as bus plunge into river in Rangpur

At least 10 passengers were injured when a bus plunged into a river after crashing through a bridge railing on Rangpur-Dinajpur highway in Taraganj upazila of Rangpur this evening.

The Dinajpur-bound bus from Dhaka skidded off Barati bridge into Jamuneswari river after crashing through its railing in Ikorchali area around 8:00pm, said Mustafizar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Taraganj Police Station.

Locals and law enforcers rescued 30 passengers till 9:00pm when the report was filed.

Of them 10 were admitted to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital with severe injuries, reports our Rangpur correspondent.
