10 burnt in Savar petrol bomb attack
At least 10 people were burnt as unidentified miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a long-route bus on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Savar on the outskirts of Dhaka this evening.
Two of the injured Ismail Hosen, 40, and Hasmot Ali, 27, hailed from Faridpur -- critically burnt -- were under treatment along with rest of the burnt victims at the Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar, our Savar correspondent reports quoting Dr Md Shawkat Ali, a duty doctor of the hospital.
Identity of the other injured passengers were not available when this report was filed around 11:12pm.
Zahidul Islam, driver of the Faridpur-bound bus said some the miscreants threw a petrol bomb at the Zaker Paribahan bus in Ulail bus stand area around 9:20pm when the vehicle was stuck in a traffic jam.
Abdul Motaleb Miah, officer-in-charge (OC) of Savar Model Police Station said the injured were rushed to the hospital and the ill-fated bus was removed from the road, the correspondent adds.
“Filing of a case was underway in this connection. None was arrested,” the OC said.
