1 lakh yaba tablets seized in Cox’s Bazar
The paramilitary Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized around 1 lakh pieces of yaba from Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar early today.
Acting on a tip-off, a patrol team of BGB conducted a drive on the Naaf river in Golarchar area around 2:00am and challenged a boat carrying yaba smugglers.
Sensing danger, the smugglers shots two bullets and fled the scene, said Lt Col Abu Jar Al Jahid, commanding officer of BGB battalion-42.
Later, police seized the boat along with the tablets kept inside a cold storage used for storing fish, the CO said.
The items worth around Tk 3 crore were being smuggled into the country from Myanmar, he added.
