A youth died after a trawler sank in the river Shitalakkhya in Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur this morning.
Divers fished out the body of Limon (full name could not be known), 23, an operator of Pran Beverage and Food Company Limited, around 11:55am, reports our Gazipur correspondent.
The trawler with more than 50 workers of Pran Group on board capsized in the middle of the river near Jamalpur Kheyaghat Bazaar point around 7:30am, said Najmul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kaliganj Police Station.
Reason behind the capsize could not be known immediately.
Most of the passengers, who were going to their factory in Palash upazila of Narsingdi from Kaliganj, managed to swim ashore, the police official said.
Divers from Fire Service and Civil Defence in Dhaka along with locals scoured through the river for hours for any survivor.
They ended the search around 5:30pm after salvaging the trawler from the riverbed and being confirmed that none of the passengers left missing, the OC added.
