1/11 masterminds still active: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said again that a group of civil society members, who she said were behind the 1/11 political changeover of 2007, are active again to bring back the situation.
“This group of civil society members who consider themselves as eminent persons are trying to establish an undemocratic government again as they felt ignored when a democratic government remains in power,” Hasina said during her election campaign in Mirpur.
Terming the January 5 election as very important for continuation of the constitutional process in the country, she urged people to cast their votes saying it is their democratic rights.
She also said that conspiracy is being hatched to foil the January 5 parliamentary elections.
"Conspiracies and schemes are on to hinder the elections. So, I urge the countrymen to remain alert in this regard," said Hasina, also the Awami League president, while addressing three election rallies in the capital.
Hasina addressed two more election rallies at Pallabi and Uttara as chief guest.
During her campaign at Mirpur Adarsha High School ground, she also urged people to resist those who would try to foil the polls.
Hasina said that the government had tried every option to sit and hold a dialogue with BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to solve the ongoing political impasse.
But the opposition leader denied the opportunities "as she likes terrorism, vandalism and killing of people in the name of movement", alleged the AL chief.
Hasina said people have no involvement with the BNP-led opposition's movements which she termed as "acts of terrorism" as people are being bombed and killed.
In her speech, she sought votes for the AL nominated candidates -- Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Ilias Uddin Mollah and Shahara Khatun.
